Ontario's Supply Chain Guideline

What is the Supply Chain Guideline?
The Supply Chain Guideline is a set of standards and procedures that has been prepared to support and improve Broader Public Sector (BPS) supply chain activities. It incorporates two major principles: a supply chain code of ethics and a procurement policies and procedures standard.

Any BPS organization that receives greater than $10 million per fiscal year from the Ministries of Health and Long-Term Care, Education and Training, or Colleges and Universities will be required to adopt the supply chain code of ethics as well as begin to implement the established mandatory requirements of the procurement policies and procedures by March 2010.

The policies and procedures expected of Ontario's BPS organizations comply with other governing mandates and legislation and have been harmonized with the following:

  • Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT)
  • Ontario-Quebec Procurement Agreement
  • Canadian Law of Competitive Processes and Contract Law; and
  • Freedom of Personal Information and Privacy Act (FIPPA)

Medbuy continues to be proactive in implementing new and emerging procurement standards. For the most part, the introduction of the guideline will have little impact on Medbuy's current procurement practices, as a majority of the guideline's requirements are already built into its procurement policy framework.
