Medbuy announces new Board Chair

Jun 21, 2010

Medbuy, Canada’s longest standing and most progressive group purchasing organization, is pleased to announce that Sue Denomy, President and CEO of Bluewater Health, was elected to a two-year term as Chair of Medbuy’s Board of Directors at its AGM held in Saint John, New Brunswick earlier this month.

"As healthcare continues to face greater challenges, the need for organizations to have a GPO partner is paramount,” Denomy says. “Medbuy’s Strategic Plan, which was endorsed by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting, addresses the current and future supply chain challenges health systems across the county face and seeks to meet them head-on. I am looking forward to working with the Board and Medbuy management to advance our exciting and progressive direction."

Medbuy’s future direction is fueled by several key issues with the healthcare supply chain that must be addressed. “During the past several months we have taken the pulse of key stakeholder groups from coast to coast and have incorporated the feedback received into our plans going forward,” notes Rick Cochrane, Medbuy’s President & CEO. “Sue Denomy sees these issues every day as CEO at Bluewater Health and brings that perspective to her role as Board Chair for Medbuy."

“Her knowledge, insight and leadership coupled with that of her Board counterparts will assist Medbuy in responding to several key issues for our stakeholders – issues such as driving more costs out of the system, keeping quality and patient safety top of mind and creating efficiencies within the healthcare supply chain.”

Denomy’s healthcare career spans more than three decades as a Registered Nurse and leader in patient care and support service departments. She was appointed President and CEO of Sarnia, Ontario-based Bluewater Health in March 2008. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce and Masters of Business Administration from the University of Windsor. She has been a member of Medbuy’s Board of Directors since May 2006, and most recently held the position of Vice Chair.
