Pharmacy Program
From injectable, oral and topical medications to total parenteral nutrition products, Medbuy's Pharmacy Program is one of the most comprehensive and competitive GPO offerings, providing Members significant savings and generous rebates on more than 3,500 SKUs across a full range of product classes and supplies.
Members also benefit from the strength of our Pharmacy team, which has a deep understanding of pharmacy sourcing, the hospital pharmacy environment, clinical issues and industry trends. But throughout the sourcing process, our membership is also able to ensure the best possible result by participating on the Pharmacy Committee. The Pharmacy Program also has the added benefit of its Buyers Committee, which evaluates the technical impact of contract awards. It's a unique, consultative contracting process that allows Members to offer input, advice, expertise, and ultimately, make purchases that best meet their needs.

In 2010, one of the largest combined pharmacy initiatives in the country was launched. In doing so, we became the first GPO to drive important industry standards in quality and patient safety in a real, material way.

Specific criteria for the safe handling and administration of chemotherapy drugs was included as were packaging and labelling requirements. This included national bar code standards developed through a joint effort of the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) and the Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI).

Strong support for important industry initiatives such as our participation in, funding and endorsement of the Canadian Pharmaceutical Bar Coding Project - a joint initiative of the Canadian Patient Safety Institute and the Institute for Safe Medication Practices
