Sue Denomy, Chair
Sue Denomy is President & CEO of Bluewater Health, a community hospital with sites that provide acute, complex continuing care, allied health and ambulatory care services for the residents of Sarnia-Lambton in southwestern Ontario. She joined Medbuy's Board of Directors in 2006 and was appointed to a two-year term as Chair in June 2010. Sue provides leadership and works with other Board Members to provide sound governance and set strategic priorities for Medbuy. In this position, she also represents the specific interests of all Members with a small purchasing volume. Sue is also a Registered Nurse with a healthcare career that spans more than three decades.
Joey Caissie, Vice Chair
Joey Caissie is President and Chief Executive Officer for New Brunswick's Vitalité Health Network. The region provides health service to more than 250,000 people through its 11 hospital sites (including four delivering primary, secondary and tertiary care), a psychiatric hospital centre and six community facilities. Joey has been a Member of the Board in various capacities since 1995 and has previously represented Beauséjour Regional Health Authority. He was most recently appointed Vice Chair in June, 2010 and serves as a Member at Large.
Kent Nicholson, President & CEO
Kent Nicholson was appointed President & CEO of Medbuy in October 2011. He has more than two decades of experience leading organizations to increased market share, productivity and customer satisfaction. He has a track record of leadership in the healthcare industry as well as several well-known private sector companies. His most recent service as an executive with major Canadian diagnostic services company, CML Healthcare, has given him the perspective of a service provider in the healthcare sector and the know-how to work within provincial health mandates.
Scott Potts, Secretary TreasurerScott Potts is Senior Vice President, Corporate Services & Operations of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. TBRHSC is a state-of-the-art acute care facility serving the healthcare needs of people living in Thunder Bay and northwestern Ontario. The hospital's emergency department is one of the busiest in Canada with approximately 95,000 visits each year. Scott joined the Board of Directors in 2006 and now represents the specific interests of Members in Central Canada. He has served as Secretary Treasurer since 2009.
Shawn Gilhuly
Shawn Gilhuly is Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), one of Canada's largest acute-care teaching hospitals. He brings over 24 years of financial and business management experience in the healthcare sector. He served as Director, Finance at LHSC for nearly a decade before assuming his current role, where he is responsible for leading and monitoring the overall, system-wide management of financial planning. He has also held executive leadership roles at Norfolk General Hospital (based in Simcoe, Ontario), Cambridge Memorial Hospital and Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Shawn joined Medbuy's Board in December 2011 and serves as Member at Large.
Gordon Gilman
Gordon Gilman is the inaugural President and Chief Executive Officer of FacilicorpNB, a public sector company created in 2008, which is responsible for management and delivery of selected non-clinical services for the New Brunswick health system. He has over three decades of public sector experience in health-related government and Crown Corporation settings, including a position as Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services with New Brunswick's Department of Health. Gordon has served as Member at Large on Medbuy's Board of Directors since December 2011.
Denise Arsenault
Denise Arsenault is a Chartered Accountant and the Vice-President, Finance & Chief Financial Officer at The Hospital for Sick Children, one of the world's foremost paediatric health-care institutions and Canada's leading centre dedicated to advancing children's health. She joined SickKids in July 2010 and now oversees its finances, including controllership, financial services, treasury and financial planning as well as materials management.
Sarah Chow
Sarah Chow is a Chartered Accountant with expertise in public accounting and healthcare. For nearly 12 years, she has been the Vice President, Finance and CFO for St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, an academic hospital that excels in specialty care and cares for the city's vulnerable population. In her tenure, she has provided financial management, overseen change management and has been responsible for initiating improvements to both financial and clinical operating processes.
Angela Zangari
Angela Zangari is Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Niagara Health System, Ontario's largest multi-site hospital organization comprised of seven sites serving nearly half a million people in the Niagara region. She is responsible for the organization's finance, utilization, decision support and supply chain management. She also provides financial leadership and planning for the health system's overall budget.
Michael Chisholm
Michael Chisholm is Vice President Corporate Affairs and the Chief Financial Officer for New Brunswick's Horizon Health Network. The health region includes more than 100 facilities including hospitals, community health centres and clinics, addiction services, mental health services, public health and the extra mural program. Michael joined the Medbuy Board of Directors in 2006 and has served in various capacities including Chair of the R.E.D. Fund Committee. He now represents the specific interests of Members in Eastern Canada.
Murray Glendining
Murray Glendining is Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs for Hamilton Health Sciences, an organization that includes six unique hospitals and a cancer centre. The organization serves 2.3 million people in Hamilton, central south and central west Ontario. Murray has also taken on the additional role of Regional CIO (eHealth Lead) for the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant LHIN. He was appointed to the Medbuy Board of Directors in 2008 and now represents the specific interests of Members with a large purchasing volume.
Daniel Germain
Dan Germain is Vice President Corporate Services and CFO at Windsor Regional Hospital, which serves 400,000 people in Windsor and Essex County in southwestern Ontario. WRH is a large, multi-site health service organization providing acute care, surgical services, regional cancer services, children's mental health, complex continuing care, long-term care, mental health/addictions and physical rehabilitation services. Dan joined the Medbuy Board of Directors in June 2010 and represents the specific interests of Members with a small purchasing volume.
Susan Hollis
Susan Hollis is Vice President, Business and Therapeutic Services and Chief Financial Officer at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton. Founded in 1890, SJHH is a multi-site, regional, tertiary, academic health science centre based in Hamilton, Ont. delivering patient care, research and teaching. The organization is a member of the St. Joseph's Health System whose member organizations each offer health services from acute, long-term and community care, to rehabilitation, hospice, community outreach, and mental health. Susan is one of the longest serving directors having joined the Medbuy Board in 2001. She currently represents Members with a medium purchasing volume.
Tony Dagnone
External Board Member
Tony Dagnone was originally appointed as External Board Member in June 2010, before assuming an Interim CEO position with Medbuy from May to December 2011. He re-assumed his position as External Board Member in January 2012. In this position, he brings a broad and current perspective of the health sector and understands how providers are looking to optimize and manage services in the face of tremendous fiscal pressure. He has nearly four decades of leadership experience in the healthcare sector, 25 years of which were served as chief executive of large teaching hospitals, including Saskatoon's Royal University Hospital and London, Ontario's London Health Sciences Centre. Most recently, he served as commissioner of Saskatchewan's Patient First Review.
Michel Leger
External Board Member
Michel Leger was appointed as an External Board Member in June 2009. In this position, he brings an extensive knowledge of healthcare leadership and governance. In his home province of New Brunswick and on a national level, Michel has served on a number of boards for healthcare organizations including Moncton's Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital and the Canadian Hospital Association. He also served as chairperson of the Premier's Health Quality Council - Renewal of Health Care in New Brunswick in 2000-02. He has been a practicing lawyer since 1973.
